land of the free

doors scratch floorboards w/ an amazing ferocity
Laurie revisits her film
while Ray comes in w/ tea
Valerie is tired
& I try to stay focused
I have seen this all before
yes, I'm a caveman
don't you see?

to Laurie Anderson

watery feelings come up again
writing & getting nothing writing & blurring your e's
writing & looking back & smudging
& sifting &
since I've been men in all my past lives.
well,
dear
that must explain something

Semi-Sonnet #1.5/ Marmot Poem

reasons why we don't listen to Shannon
are simple; he's lousy at directions
but is the sweetest elf alive. Ray walked
out in the rain speaking softly to me
about the newfound virility that
one finds in t. I'm a caveman don't you
see? I told you that Jake moos too much
for his own good & he takes fairly odd
drugs to get his mirror where he wants it.

Laurie revisits her film entitled reasons
why we don't listen to Shannon in the
car. He really is sweet but just moos too
much. It's his own moo of life keeping him.
I am a marmot on cold Friday nights.
